It's just a cake?

Creating the Perfect Wedding Cake

A TIME-INTENSIVE JOURNEY

Have you ever wondered about the time and effort that goes into creating a wedding cake that not only looks stunning but also tastes delicious? Let's take a peek behind the scenes and explore the timeline of this deliciously intricate process.

The time needed to whip up a wedding cake isn't a one-size-fits-all scenario. It depends on the cake's size and how fancy it's design is. For a simple, elegant cake, you're looking at around 4 - 5  very long working days for baking and decorating. But if you're dreaming of a more elaborate masterpiece, be prepared to invest a week or more. And if the design includes intricate details like sugar flowers to match your fresh flowers, add a few more days possibly weeks to the timeline just for those delicate blooms. I put my heart and soul into every cake I make.

But wait, there's more to the story than just baking and decorating. Before the mixing bowls come out, there are meetings with couples, countless emails, and video calls. Designing the cake is an art form in itself, involving practice runs, ingredient sourcing, and making sure all the colours match seamlessly. You are not just paying for the end result, your wedding cake, but for a complete service.

Behind every beautiful cake is a business humming with activity, from administrative tasks to the nitty-gritty of running things smoothly. I won't bore you with the details, but trust me, it's all part of the recipe for success.

As the big day approaches, the focus shifts to delivery. (The most stressful part of my job.) Safely packing the cake, ensuring it survives the journey to the venue, and setting it up on-site takes time – often half a day or more. The goal is to present the cake in all its glory, capturing photos of the final setup for a sweet memory.

The next time you admire a wedding cake, remember that it's not just about mixing flour and sugar. It's a true labor of love, creativity, and a celebration of turning simple ingredients into something extraordinary!
